It is over 450 kilometres each way, two Austrian vignettes, restricted access and expensive parking in Hallstatt. With a private driver none of that is your problem: we wait on site and your luggage stays in the car.
The itinerary is flexible. Stops can be shortened, skipped or extended with Salzburg or Lake Wolfgangsee — we adjust the timing and the quote accordingly.
Stop 1: Melk Abbey — baroque landmark above the Danube
Melk Benedictine Abbey is one of Europe's great baroque complexes and part of the UNESCO-listed Wachau landscape. Its golden facade on a rocky spur above the Danube is visible from far away.
Inside you will find the monastic library with thousands of historic volumes, the marble hall and a richly frescoed church. Allow about an hour and a half for the tour and gardens.
Stop 2: Gmunden and the lake castle Schloss Ort
Gmunden is a spa town on the shore of Lake Traunsee and a natural lunch break. Its landmark is Schloss Ort, a castle built on a small island and reached by a long wooden footbridge.
Around it you will find the lakeside promenade, cafes serving Viennese coffee and homemade cake, and views of Mount Traunstein. Two hours cover a relaxed walk and a meal.
Stop 3: Hallstatt between the Alps and the lake
Hallstatt is one of the most photographed places in the world. Wooden houses cling to the slope above Lake Hallstättersee, the Dachstein peaks rise behind them and the slim church spire marks the centre. The whole region is UNESCO-listed.
The village works in every season: in summer for the boats and the mountains mirrored in the water, in winter for snowy roofs and mist over the lake.

Own car or private transport from Brno?
Driving yourself means more than 900 kilometres in a day, two vignettes, parking searches and fatigue on the way back. By train and bus the same programme cannot be done in one day at all.
